Resumo: The society shape us in stereotype all the time. These stereotypes influence us to think and act unconscious most of the time, not letting this pattern clear, however, the stereotypes also challenge and break us up, staying out of this comportamental pattern we don’t fit most of the times. This article has as objective to highlight which are the stereotypes presents in the docent profession and how these stereotypes are represented on “Matilda” movie, that affected and influenced me a maternal stereotype and reflected directly in my professional life. On the subject, a bibliographic research was carried out in order to understand what were the literatures on the stereotypes of teachers present on movie screens. From the studies found, which enabled the expansion of knowledge about teacher stereotypes, a Film Analysis was performed. The film analysis was made according to the scenes that the teacher interacted with the students and especially with Matilda, enabling the conclusion that the most apparent stereotype in the film is the maternal stereotype, reinforced by social standards imposed on the teaching profession for women, who is seen as a caregiver, zealous, affectionate and empathetic, having the maternal side naturally touched, when in fact, this side is stimulated and shaped since childhood.
