Resumo: The present paper is the result of a research in the Education area, subarea History of Education, specifically in the theme of Disciplinary History. The object of the research is the teaching of History of Education in the Pedagogy Course of the Santo Tomás de Aquino Integrated Schools (Fista), in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, between 1951 and 1980, with the general objective of analyzing the processes of configuration and reconfiguration of the History of Education discipline which occurred in the period in reference. The issued which led to the investigation was related to the comprehension of how the History of Education would have been taught in the Fista Pedagogy Course, considering that it was a Catholic confessional institution. Based on the ideas of Nóvoa (1994), Nunes (1996), Chervel (1990), Monarcha (2007), Viñao Frago (2008), Araújo (2009), Gatti Jr. (2010), Carvalho (2011) etc. we sought to apprehend how the History of Education was taught in the Fista Pedagogy Course. For that, an extensive bibliographical and documental survey was carried out, as well as the use of the research technique Oral History with egresses and teachers of the discipline. Iconographic records were also used as well as the following analyses were performed: the integrated regiment, the History of Education teaching programs, the minutes, the pedagogical activities description, the list of professor and the students’ academic transcripts. At first, it was possible to notice that the presented features of a traditional and conservative thought between 1951 and 1960, in which studies regarding marriage, divorce, women's role and other themes focused on the Catholic perspective were expressive. Between 1967 and 1970, there was an attempt to get involved with the social movements of the time, through the entry of a discussion stimulated by progressive Catholic pedagogy, which overlapped content from the New School and Brazilian History. From 1971 on, new methodologies in the teaching of History of Education were integrated, among which the arrangement of desks in a circle, the reduction of lecture classes and emphasis on dialogical classes and the evaluation of students based on group work. Moreover, it is also considered that the profile of History of Education teachers changed in 1956. Thus, from 1951 to 1956, it was religious - ecclesiastical members of the Catholic Church – were the ones who taught the History of Education. Between 1956 and 1980, egresses from Fista's Pedagogy course were part of the teaching staff of that subject. The egresses selected to teach the subject had affinities with Catholic ideas and values. Regarding the methodologies, activities such as seminars, researches, lecture classes and reading of classical works composed the list of pedagogical resources for the teaching of History of Education. It is evident that textbooks such as Noções de História da Educação, by Theobaldo Miranda dos Santos, and Pequena História da Educação, by Ruy de Ayres Bello, were referenced.
