Resumo: | This study aims to present the political relations within the ambit of the social phenomenon titled as “coronelismo”, from its inner disputes for power, in the city of Araguari-MG, between 1930-1945, seeking to point out the ruptures and the continuities of such relations, eventually, to the end of what it was called “Old Republic”. The core hypothesis crosses over the idea that the changes that took place after the Revolution of 1930, such as the demographic rise, the urbanization and industrialization, do not demonstrate abruptly the “coronelismo” system, once its practices linger embedded in very solid bases, however, within the agrarian structure in Brazil. For such understanding, the term “coronelismo” will be analyzed in the Brazilian historiography, additionally, correlative concepts to this social phenomenon such as “mandonismo”, the political culture and the own concept of politics in its historiography, among other things. |
