Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of two clusters in particular, the furnishings of Uberlândia and Uberaba biotechnology, as well as policies directed to them. These two clusters are considered as such by the Center Manager Clusters of Minas Gerais (MG CMCAPLs). The hypothesis adopted here is that these two clusters can be regarded as in training, and using data from field research it was possible to confirm this hypothesis. This work was divided into four chapters. The first presents the theoretical and analytical framework, by reviewing the literature on clusters and presenting some types for these settlements. The second chapter, in turn, has policies to support clusters in Brazil, starting with an analysis of policies to support small and medium enterprises before the 90s, in the sequence to turn to policies to support clusters from the decade of 90 and policies to encourage the masses of Minas Gerais. The third and fourth chapters analyzes respectively, cluster furnishings of Uberlândia and cluster biotechnology of Uberaba, presenting and analyzing the data from empirical research, such as public policies, financing, innovation, among others. Finally, some conclusions were made, showing that although there are policies to support clusters are still incipient, and in ways that promote cooperation between businesses in the clusters, thus strengthening these clusters in order to consolidate them as agglomeration developed.
