Resumo: Exploring identity and diversity as subjects in art teaching was the main aim of the research presented in this dissertation in view of the possibility of students developing through art a new look at themselves and at the other that can minimize racism, prejudice, discrimination and bullying attitudes among them. Actions and thoughts developed in the research sought to build an education proposal focused on meeting each student’s own singularities. The research took place in a public school in Uberlândia city, MG, where students lived in a context of bad behavior, often generated by bullying among them. Especially in art teaching, this condition made it impossible to conduct classes and the teaching and learning process. The research explores how identity and differences appear in the (local) curriculum and art teaching as a means to deal with such themes in classroom. Thus, the discussion covers curriculum, bullying, identity, differences, and art teaching in light of authors such as Silva, Fante, Hall, Lino, Barbosa and Iavelberg. Keywords: Bullying. Identity. Differences. Art.
