Resumo: | This work aims to understand the manifest value of access to culture and identity in the Arts/Music course of the State University of Montes Claros - Unimontes. The epistemological basis is found in the historical and dialectical materialism of Karl Marx and the theoretical foundation in the area of Cultural Studies. In this way, five academics of the music course, of different profiles and formations, were selected and later invited to participate an in-depth interview. The diagnosis was developed based on the cultural analysis, including the diversity of the studied group and the various formative itineraries. The work discusses the importance of personal experiences and memory in the construction of identity, considering the context of Montes Claros, as well as the environment of the music course researched. From this point on, there is reflection on the inequalities of access to culture, under four points: culture as status, culture as a product, the role of the media and the role of educational institutions. The results indicate the meanings that academics attribute to access to culture and the identity construction, highlighting the limits of massification and the role of university and role of resistance in this context. |
