This study addresses the urban space as an open field for the artistic creation. It brings together a set of practical actions and proposals whose making followed an affective, critical and subjective gaze to the spaces of the cities of Uberlandia and Patos de Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais. Called Urban and Environmental Art, these practical actions took place in areas chosen accordingly to daily experiences of living in the city and with an emphasis on aspects of urban and environmental context. Therefore, city and nature are the subject matter of a research and simultaneously its artistic project. In these environments, there re relationships with places, routes and displacements as well as the likely encounter with the other. These practical actions made possible not only to identify relevant aspects of the relations between art, cities and nature but also to think of them. They were supported by an analytical, reflective and methodological approach of discussions on the creation process, the act of walking, the displacement, the context of urban and environmental interest, and on the theoretical and artistic references as way of broadening the critical thinking in contemporary art.
