It is verified that only from the beginning of the 80's some specific politics for the treatment of the environmental problems in Brazil, in Minas Gerais and more specifically in Uberlândia were implanted. These Politics are implemented with projects, programs and a legal-technical and administrative structure. This work aims to analyze the politics, the legislation and the environmental conditions of Uberlândia by the context of the State and federal administration. The intention of this work is making the data systematization de dados and information about the environmental themes of Uberlândia, more specifically in the urban area. This systematization considers some aspects about legislation, historical of the technical-administrative structure of the federal, State and municipal leveis, the opinion of several representatives from the many organs and environmental entities of this city and environmental conditions focusing the following subjects: water, atmosphere, sounding and soil pollution; the ore extraction, complaints and accusations coming from the population, conservation units, permanent preservation areas, squares and urban arborization. This work development is explained for the intense growth of Uberlândia, having as consequence the rising of the environmental problems mainly when it is considered the urban/industrial growth in the last decades. The methodology used in this work was based on bibliographical studies, interviews with representatives of the organs and entities linked to the environmental questions and field works. In Brazil, in Minas Gerais and in Uberlândia there is a big and legal base for this area, but it shows its imperfections on application because of the poor structure of the responsable organs, as well as the integration lack among the same ones. According to the environmental conditions of Uberlândia it is possible to observe some progresses in many areas as the treatment given to the liquid drain (domestic and industriais), domestic and from hospitais solid residues and the existence of a specific technical administrative and legal structure of the environment. The environmental subjects that request special attention refer to the erosive processes, degradation of the areas of permanent preservation, viable environmental alternatives for disposition of the dumps and industrial solid residues and intensification of the activities of environmental education.
