Resumo: | This investigation aimed to reflect on the importance of the existence of environments of discussion, study and debates of science. The Forensic Science had as purposed rescue these essential connectives between science-experience, in addition to providing students with moments a space for research activities to be developed. That process is directly related to the promotion of scientific literacy. From a more specific look we asked: how the Science Club Forensic Medicine could contribute to the development of scientific literacy students of Elementary School? It was a qualitative research of the type of case study, with students from the 6th to the 9th year of the State School Teacher Carlos Ayres. The material for analysis was obtained through oral questions or club writings, observations, surveys and pictures. The data were organized in episodes of academic interest and analyzed from the perspective of scientific literacy indicators proposed by Sasseron (2008). The chosen strategy was made use of the science club as an educational tool, research teaching as a didactic methodology and forensic science as the main theme. The instruments selected for this analysis started of the episodes: "Revealing fingerprints"; "The DNA at the crime scene”; "Crime Scene Simulation - evidence analysis"; "Crime Scene - Closing Ceremony". The choice of these lessons is justified because they are elements of the forensic process, since the analysis of the fingerprints and the search for DNA at the scene of crime, are decisive elements in investigations criminal proceedings. Therefore, the analysis of a (fictitious) crime scene proposes a substantial scenery or the development of these scientific forensic skills. In addition, they are important tools that help in the understanding and contextualization of scientific concepts of science / biology. Scientific literacy indicators were present in the analysis and contributed to the development of investigative practices, favoring meaningful learning, stimulating skills and attitudes for club members to understand the environment in which they live. The implementation of the Science Club in elementary schools of the public network is perfectly feasible, as long as there is an interested management, students engaged and a teacher-facilitator that allows the activities to take place and to be effective. |
