Resumo: | The present study exposes the pedagogical practices of the teaching of the Portuguese Language within the Normal School of São Paulo between 1880 and 1899, especially considering the diffusion of the innovative pedagogical standards of the positivist Antônio da Silva Jardim, defender of the use of the "João de Deus Method "For the teaching of reading, as teacher of this institution, from 1883 to 1886, in the subjects: 1st chair -" Grammatica e lingua portugueza. Practical studies of style and declamation "and 4th chair -" Pedagogy and methodology, comprising exercises of intuition Doctrine ". Thus, the research will focus more closely on the analysis of the first chair, considering the changes that occurred in its course, covering the analysis of documentary sources: regiments, teaching programs, reading manual, teaching method, including pedagogical proposals developed by teachers who preceded and succeeded in the delimited temporal cut. Among these teachers, Júlio Ribeiro, the author of Grammatica Portugueza (1881), stands out for the regitration and recognition of brazilian Portuguese. Thus, the present study aims to reconstruct the trajectory of Portuguese Language teaching in the Normal School of São Paulo, considering the action of its teachers immersed in the sociopolitical and cultural issues of their time, diagnosing advances or showing setbacks. To do so, I will use Pierre Bourdieu's theory of cultural capital as a method of analysis in order to broaden the perception of the pedagogical choices of the teachers of the 1st chair. Among the problems to be elucidated, it is worth acknowledging the sociopolitical role played by the Portuguese Language in the late nineteenth century and the consequent educational conceptions of its teaching, especially before and after the Republic, as well as the current standard, applied pedagogical practices in the Normal School of São Paulo and the possible interferences of Silva Jardim in this process. |
