Resumo: This Dissertation Deals With The Study Of The Relationships Between Nature And Society, Focusing On The History Of The Preservation Of A Former Forest Garden Located In The Interior Of The State, In Rio Claro City. The Central Problem Of This Object Lies In The Discussion That It Brings About The Safeguarding Of Nature By The Cultural And Environmental Policies, As Object Of Two Tutelages That Had Parallel Trajectories In Brazil, But With Diverse Conceptions Of Nature Valuation. The Temporal Cut Has Sought To Understand The Period Between The Process Of Listing The Garden As A Landscape Heritage And Its Classification As A State Forest From 1974 To 2002. With A Local Look, The History Of The Former Forest Garden Area Of Rio Claro Has Brought Reflections On The Arguments Used To Value The Nature And Its Relation To Culture, The Challenges And Contradictions Of Its Management After The Listing, Especially When Envisaged By Other Interests, Local Agents That Sometimes Limited Or Sometimes Expanded Its Preservati
