Resumo: Organizations that have undergone major changes in recent decades associated with technological advances have been using performance indicators to improve productivity and work quality with a focus on results and customer satisfaction. In the public sphere, from the 1980s onwards with the emergence of managerial public administration, the principle of efficiency was added by Constitutional Amendment 19 of 1998 to measure the work of public servants by introducing the performance condition as one of the criteria for dismissal through a procedure periodic performance appraisal, which in practice has not been applied. Thus, this paper aims to analyze the performance evaluation process of UNIFESP administrative staff in education during the probationary period of thirty-six months, identifying facilitating and difficult points in the applicability of this tool. To achieve this objective, an analysis of the institutional documents made available by the Dean of Management with People - ProPessoas, legislation and articles on the subject was performed, as well as a statistical analysis based on data from 488 employees evaluated from 2016 to the present. The relevance of this study is justified, because the performance evaluation must meet current legislation and the current government's political interest in introducing in the short term an administrative reform defining new criteria for probationary stage and dismissal of employees, conditioned to the performance evaluation of systematic way. The proposed data analysis was performed using the IBM-SPSS statistical software. The results show that in the three evaluation periods of the probationary stage the punctuated averages were high, between very satisfactory and fully satisfactory, observing flaws in the performance evaluation process, as a newcomer in the career does not have full mastery of the activities performed, therefore cannot be evaluated with excellence. It is concluded, therefore, that the tool has been used to fulfill a bureaucratic stage of the probationary stage and needs to be improved so that its application can be done continuously and systematically using the multi-source or 360º evaluation method, as indicated by the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management - MPOG and Secretariat of Public Management - SEGEP, for being less partial and involving several actors in the process, providing career development in a fair and appropriate manner.
