Resumo: | Breast cancer is the second most frequent cancer in the world. The Breast reconstruction is considered an integrant part of breast cancer treatment. There is no reliable and specific evaluation instrument available in Brazil that evaluates expectations from the Brazilian women point of view about their breast reconstruction surgery. Purpose: Translating the BREAST-Q® - Breast Reconstruction Expectations Module (preoperative) into portuguese and adapting it to the Brazilian cultural context. Methods: Following the methodology of Beaton et al. (2000), the questionnaire was translated and adapted to the Brazilian culture. The validity of face and content and internal consistency were evaluated. The instrument was applied to 40 (forty) patients. Results: The average age of the patitens was 53.5 years (SD = 9 years). There were good and excellent internal consistencies between the items of coping and appearance (Cronbach's Alpha of 0.878 and 0.909, respectively. The pain item showed moderate consistency (0.738) and for the medical team it was acceptable (0.587). Conclusion: The BREAST-Q® - Breast Reconstructions Expectations Module (preoperative) 2.0 was translated and adapted to the Brazilian cultural context, presenting face and content validity. |
