Resumo: | This thesis is concerned with the ethical and political thought of classical Greece, more precisely on the philosophical thought of Plato in the Republic. This is concerned with the thesis that philosophers should take part in the government of cities, the manner as stated in Plato's Republic (473 d), in which Socrates proposes to the other characters dialogue that philosophers should rule the poleis. If it does not, there will be no end to the evils of mankind, or may come to light of the existence a fair city, just like they argue over the dialogues delivered in the Republic. Indeed, the best known work of Plato, the great challenge of Socrates, the main character of the dialogue is to defend the thesis that justice is a good in itself, the greatest good to those who possess the soul, regardless of the consequences and external benefits that may accrue from its ownership. The defense of this view is the thread, in which intertwine other topics within the philosophy of Plato, are necessary to sustain the life of the righteous man is happier there to live. It is, in short, from that defense of justice that is constructed ideal of the philosopher, considered the platonic wise and as the fairest and happy man. |
