Resumo: During pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, as they are considered periods of physical, psychological and social transformations in a woman's life, it is common to experience intense emotions, characterized by ambivalence and anxiety. With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, there were profound changes in the routine of pregnant and postpartum women, which, consequently, led to greater visibility, due to the risks, for the health of the mother and baby. In addition to physical vulnerability, the mental health of pregnant and postpartum women was greatly affected, mainly due to the social isolation measures recommended at the time. Furthermore, there is difficulty in accessing prenatal care services and routine consultations, a reduction in the number of initial consultations, as well as maternal-fetal problems, which trigger worse physical and emotional conditions. In order to minimize and/or avoid risks to the health of mothers and babies, pregnant women were granted the right to leave work in person, according to Law 14151. This law brought benefits because women were able to enjoy their pregnancy in family life. However, on the other hand, they experienced stress due to the overload of activities at home, with childcare at the same time as work tasks. In particular, this research aimed to understand the perceptions and feelings of mothers about motherhood, work and the health care received during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum during the Covid-19 pandemic. To this end, a qualitative study was carried out, collecting information through a sociodemographic questionnaire and interviews with 12 mothers. The textual contents were processed in the Iramuteq software, and analyzed using Descending Hierarchical Classification, Similarity Analysis and Word Cloud techniques. Bardin's content analysis was used to interpret the reports. The results indicate the importance of developing planned emotional support strategies for mothers, with emphasis on strengthening family ties and with health professionals, aiming to improve the perception and quality of care received. It is suggested to carry out longitudinal studies, which consider the different post-pandemic phases and their effects. It is also important to highlight the importance of encouraging discussions regarding the need to guarantee and fulfill the rights of working mothers. Finally, this study can support future discussions, in order to enable the development and qualification of more effective health care strategies humanized, but also alleviate unpleasant emotional consequences for these women even in times of health crisis.
