Resumo: This work is characterized by an exploratory and qualitative kind of research, the action-research type, where the researcher and the participants perform an active role on the follow-up and evaluation of actions resulting from the problem. The objective of the research is the implementation of process management, with the aim of minimizing the effects of microbiological contamination in artificial milk, which are produced at the lactario of the Hospital de Caridade Dr. Astrogildo de Azevedo - RS, because the clients at the neo-natal CTI have presented gastrointestinal disorder as a result of microbiological contamination of artificial milk. In this way the research searched for the identification of critical processes of production, as well as, to redefine the flowchart of the available processes to offer a product, and/or a high quality service, which does not cause any risk to client's health. The definition, the follow-up and the screening of the process are necessary steps to evaluate critical processes, and from this point, to define the necessary intervention for improvement. After the implementation of the new process we worked to verify the effectiveness of it, and to guarantee the improvement by means of following-up and analysis of the milk, which are produced in a place where one can observe that the microbiological contamination of the milk produced was minimized, from the re-organization of the process, from the commitment and awareness of the group involved
