Resumo: The dissertation "ProJovem Field - Earth Knowledge: a critical look at the program's contribution to the permanence of young people in the middle peasant" accompanied the ProJovem Field young graduates - Earth Knowledge to analyze the contribution that the program had for their stays in the field. In this perspective, with the objective: "To understand the role of educational public policies related to the field in promoting the quality of the contribution of life of their communities and youth to remain in rural areas", we used qualitative research study type case. Therefore, drew on desk research and questionnaires. To meet the goal, this paper is divided into three chapters. The first, entitled "Brazil: a continent of land and people without land", a historical review, divided into six moments of the agrarian question in Brazil, it concluded that the concentration of land ownership in our country was organized and historically privileged part of the population. The second chapter, "Rural Education and ProJovem field - Knowledge of the Earth: Fight, reflection and analysis - a proposal for education for communities" identifies the characteristics and the proposals of the program as an educational public policy for the permanence of young people in communities peasant, from the Integrated Primary Course Social and Professional Qualification in Family and Sustainable Agriculture. The third chapter deals with the search results themselves, entitled "The young peasant populating the Brazilian countryside - reality or utopia? An analysis of public education policy focused on the field ", in which we concluded that the program provided the young graduates a new look in relation to rural communities, interconnected youth to a social and professional skills and raised expectations to remain in the field, from the working and living conditions and well-being provided by the countryside. We also note that during the program were presented difficulties, as the high dropout rate and the difficult access. Reality for the next class of the Program should be analyzed and monitored. Furthermore, we conclude that the intent of the program, from its educational structure and offered pedagogical approach, is that more young people to stay on the field, establishing housing, contributing their work to generate income and well-being of your family and of their community.
