The energetical issue is knocking on the humanity´s door. The reduction of mundial oil researves, the increase of the demand from the emergent economies, as well as the excessive pollution caused by the fossils fuel s burn denounce the importance on doing a change of the energetic pattern from an oil-dependet model to one composed greatly by renewable energies. Considering this scenario, the present research aims to investigate the opportunity and the economical, social and political possibilities of the south american countries make use of natural gas as a fuel-bridge between one and another model. For that, in a first moment, it starts from the analisys of the regional countries energetical structure s composition to evaluate their complementarity and the nature of the potential and real existent conflicts involving energetical resources to evaluate the possibility to superate them. After that it considers the advantages to utilizate natural gas as a fuel-bridge during the transition period. In a second moment the limits of union models experimented in the region, as the caracteristics that could be expected from an union propeled by the energetical sector are presented. Finally, the regional gas interconection projects in course are mentioned and, by the end, some coordinates that should be observed for that the union constructed trough this sector could serve to make better the regional population general well-being are suggested.
