This work is the result of an anthropological research that studies the Thirteen May Museum, a Museum of community character that was created in 2001 in the town of Santa Maria/RS as an attempt to save and keep the heritage of the former Thirteen May Railway Historical Society, a Negro Social Club created by black railwayman in 1903. Through ethnographic and documentary research has sought to understand and analyze the trajectory of this club. What the survey found is that in the process of converting the "Club" in Museum played a very important role in the reflections and visibilities about black identity in the city.
