Resumo: Indigenous populations are pioneers and have left many contributions in the territory of the Quarta Colonia UNESCO Geopark of Italian Immigration in Rio Grande do Sul. Specifically the indigenous, a pioneering group in our region, to investigate treatment appropriate to the approach, which includes education associating culture and heritage. These, in turn, collaborate with the coexistence of countless factors, among them, the subjects and their ethnicities, as well as the emergence of the indigenous culture that resists in the midst of other dominant matrices. This research entitled “A look at indigenous peoples in the fourth colony: approach to historical heritage and ethnicities”, has as research product The Indigenous Culture booklet: Knowing to Value, which can be seen in the municipality of Agudo - RS, an integral part of the Quarta Colonia Geopark UNESCO, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The material is intended for the public from 10 years old, that is, from the fifth year of Elementary School at the Municipal Elementary School Santos Reis, supported by “Law nº 11.645 , of March 10, 2008, which makes the study of indigenous and Afro-Brazilian history and culture mandatory in elementary education establishments...”. Therefore, it is possible along the way to weave knowledge and learning paths to know the indigenous contributions, to value and teach history, as well as its importance within the school space and in society. This work is part of the vacancies contemplated for teachers inserted in the Quarta Colonia Geoparque UNESCO.
