Resumo: | This research, linked to the Professional Master's Program in Educational Technologies in Network at UFSM - RS, in the Research Line on the Development of Educational Technologies in Network, aimed to develop a methodological approach for teaching cartography that could be used as a complement to existing methodological proposals or adopted as the main methodological approach. To achieve this, the study created WebMapping environments that provide geographic data for the municipality of Ibirubá–RS. WebMappings are applications that offer geographic data in the form of maps on the internet, allowing users to consult various aspects of these maps through the functionalities available in the application. For this study, four WebMappings were created: Political-Administrative Boundaries (providing layers such as municipal boundaries, districts, urban perimeter, neighborhoods, densely built-up areas, villages, adjacent municipalities, hydrography, and road segments), Physical Themes (providing layers such as municipal boundaries, contour lines, hydrography, and water bodies), Buildings/Constructions (providing layers such as municipal boundaries, cemeteries, buildings, educational institutions, hydroelectric plants, airstrips, bridges, road segments, and hydrography), and 2022 Census - Population and Households (providing layers such as total households per district, residents per district, census tracts, residents per census tract, total households per census tract, total private households per census tract, total collective households per census tract, neighborhoods, districts, and municipal boundaries). In addition, a guide was developed to instruct on the use of the WebMappings created and to suggest activities, aimed at teachers working in elementary schools in the municipality. The activity suggestions were based on Simielli (2021) and the Study Plans of Ibirubá, which are grounded in the Common National Curriculum Base and the Gaúcho Curricular Reference. The research was conducted using the Design Science Research methodology, based on Dresch, Lacerda, and Antunes Junior (2015). To evaluate the artifacts, an online questionnaire was administered to teachers in IbirubáRS, assessing the guide and the usability of the WebMappings based on Marquez, Meirelles, and da Silva (2021). The data collection instrument indicated that respondents rated the produced WebMappings as having good usability. Moreover, they considered the guide a valuable resource for aiding the use of WebMappings in the classroom. |
