Resumo: The teaching of the work context of university teaching is complex and multidimensional, which coexist demands permeated by dimensions of social, political and economic. The reconfiguration of the working world permeated by the changes brought about by globalization and information revolution has generated extensive discussion about the intensification of intellectual work, which lead to a new paradigm of production and consumption of knowledge. Recent research has associated questions about the precariousness of work and the productivism culture as important factors for the disease in the context of university teaching. However, there are few studies that deal with the triad work / health / disease to investigate realities of different scenarios, in terms of legislation, culture, and economy, as an emerging country like Brazil and other developed as Portugal. Therefore, this thesis aims to analyze the critical indicators of disease in the university teaching job dimensions in the context of a Brazilian IES (UFSM) and another Portuguese (ULISBOA). This research can be classified as study explanatory case, the research strategy is the comparative character. Data collection occurred through the tool provided by google drive, which allowed the questionnaire was sent directly to teachers belonging to the UFSM and ULISBOA. In addition to the data related to social and professional profiles were applied scales belonging to the inventory of work and ITRA disease risk. We obtained 326 responses, with 251 teachers UFSM and 75 of ULISBOA teachers. The results are surprising in that it reflects a scenario that combines elements similar to the two universities, among them stands out the evaluation in severe level of the corresponding factor to cognitive cost, which suggests that, in both contexts, the overhead cognitive given by intensifying work transcends aspects locally contextualized. At the same time, the results show worst reality of the teachers participating ULISBOA due to reviews in critical or serious level given to most factors. In that matches the analyzes for UFSM, there is the existence of significant discrepancy between men and women, with regard to perceptions of work-related factors measured at ITRA, being the predominant factor for gender differences indicated with unfavorable to reality women's.
