Resumo: This study investigates how the evaluation process contributes to the organization of mathematics teaching in the early years of elementary school. As theoretical reflections, we emphasize the teachers‟ education; the principles of Guiding Educational Activity (AOE) de Moura (2010), looking for highlight, especially, the evaluation under this perspective. This research was conducted in the Mathematics Club (CluMat), a project developed by GEPEMat in a public school in Santa Maria / RS, from a teaching activity on statistics in a fifth grade, in which the researcher acts as a teacher. For data analysis, we take as reference the Historical and Cultural Theory (THC) Vygotsky (1994) and Activity Theory Leontiev (1978) that brings us to the need for teaching organization in the humanization perspective. For analysis and presentation of data, the concept of episodes (Moura, 2012) organized from the following lines was used: The material conditions, possibilities and challenges of the teaching organization; planning, development and reflection, ongoing assessment; the learning from the organized teaching activity; pathways that interconnect in the evaluation. Based on the survey results, it was revealed that the ongoing evaluation during all teaching activity segment is fundamental to improving the quality of the teaching organization and, consequently, the teacher and the student learning.
