Resumo: The Brazilian Health System has the primary health care as the first level of attention of the public health system. The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the work of nurses in the implementation of health evaluation programs in primary care in towns of the 4th Regional Health District Rio Grande do Sul. This is a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory research based on Historical Dialectical Materialism, since the logical foundations of the investigation clarify the procedures. The field of study was the 4th Regional Health District Rio Grande do Sul, micro-region Verdes Campos. This study was composed of eight nurses who belong to Family Health Strategy teams in towns of the micro-region Verdes Campos according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection, which happened from January to May 2014, was conducted through an interview, and the analysis was performed after the transcription was made, then the material was re-read and the reports were organized. The data was focused on theories, building up issues relevant to the categorization and finally we proceeded to the final analysis, when we grouped the data and the theoretical framework of the study to meet the objectives described. The research started after the approval by the Ethics and Research Committee of the Federal University of Santa Maria, under No. 05851712.3.0000.5346, followed the recommendations of Resolution 466/2012, with the use of an Informed Consent Statement. The benefits of the research contribute to the knowledge and evaluation of performance in work setting. This thesis sought the actions developed by professional nurses regarding the evaluation programs in Primary Care, it helped encourage interactions towards different professional cores, and it contributes to the construction of interdisciplinarity of health work objects in primary health care.
