Resumo: |
The object of this study is the dentistry professors of the Dentistry Course of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), as well as the students who have graduated from the course and became professors of the Dentistry Department, between the years 1972 and 1979. This is a bibliographical, documental, and memorial historical research, in which we use the Cultural and Social History assumptions as a form of approach. Our goal is to analyze the trajectories of two generations of dentistry professors of the Dentistry Department of the Federal University of Sergipe (DOD/UFS) who have served from 1972 to 1979. As specific objectives, we sought to identify biographical data of DOD/UFS dentists and professors who graduated from the UFS dentistry department, in order to compose their academic and professional trajectories; to analyze the contribution of these dentist teachers to the educational field; identify what motivated the entry of these health professionals, DOD/UFS professors, in the educational field; to infer the disputes that occurred between DOD/UFS professors in the field of Dentistry. In order to base this paper, we used the concepts of field from Pierre Bourdieu's (2002,2006,2021) perspective, of intellectual based on Jean François Sirinelli's (2003) writings, and networks of sociability also based on Sirinelli (2003). In order to compose the trajectory of the individuals in this research, we used the interview technique, widely used in Oral History, with the application of a questionnaire with the purpose of collecting biographical data of the professors involved. Based on the data collected, we asked ourselves: what is the trajectory of the dentistry course professors that enabled their insertion in the education of professionals at UFS, during the period aforementioned? We believe that the closest hypothesis to answer the question proposed here is that they entered the educational field because they were the most qualified for that, besides having teaching as a life purpose, because they were part of the Civil Society of Dentistry School of Sergipe, which for many years sought the implementation of the Dentistry School, and the interest in the field of teaching occurred as a form of social visibility that the position could provide. This thesis was able to present the two generations of dentists comprised of pioneers and former students from UFS, as well as the reason why they joined the teaching career, their contributions to the teaching of dentistry in the state of Sergipe, mainly helping in the education of new professionals who would come to serve society. |
