Resumo: The task of reconstructing aspects of the past is a job that requires the search for information in spaces such as archives. The level of systematization of information which the informational unit provides to its user, in addition to the presence of research instruments, are aspects that contribute to the access and strengthening of the link between the user and the information. Regarding this scenario, this work has as the main objective to elaborate and to make available a catalog of metalinguistic sources present in the personal funds of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Sergipe, in order to contribute to the knowledge of the studies on the Portuguese language of Brazil and the linguistic ideas that circulated especially in the first half of the 20th century. Through an exploratory-descriptive, documentary and quali-quantitative research, 55,875 documents were collected from personal funds, in which 94 contain sources of metalinguistic information, related to the intellectual production of Sergipe personalities, such as: João Dantas Martins dos Reis (1830-1890), Manoel Armindo Cordeiro Guaraná (1848- 1924), Manoel dos Passos de Oliveira Telles (1859-1939), Ivo do Prado Montes Pires França (1860-1924), General José Figueiredo Lobo (1899-19--), Epifânio da Fonseca Dória ( 1884- 1976), Urbano de Oliveira Lima Neto (1905-1990), Fernando Figueiredo Porto (1911-2005), Father Aurélio Vasconcelos de Almeida (1911-1999), Lauro de Britto Porto (1911-2010), Maria Thetis Nunes ( 1923-2009), José Calasans Brandão da Silva (1915-2001) and Djaldino Mota Moreno (1948-). The documentation of these polygraphs covers articles, personal documents, speeches and lectures, newspapers and magazines, correspondence sent and received, printed, minutes, personal notes, passbooks, books and court decisions, making it possible to identify the most diverse subjects, including studies and comments from linguistic nature at the orthographic, phonetic, prosodic, morphological, syntactic, lexicological, lexicographic, etymological, terminological and semantic levels. As a product, a selective catalog was created with 93 sample documents, based on descriptive standardization standards, such as the General International Standard Archival Description (ISAD) and the Brazilian Standard for Archival Description (NOBRADE), with the support of an instrument model of research proposed by Lopez (2002), Bellotto (2006), The Public Archive of Paraná (2005) and Lima (2012). Furthermore, it is expected that the construction of the model proposed as the research instrument will promote access to information, especially of a linguistic nature, through appropriate informational treatment, serving as an example to be followed in other information units, in addition to enabling the execution of rigorous research in a Brazilian historical and cultural heritage.
