Resumo: |
This study sought to verify the perceptions and attitudes of university students in relation to science of the full degree courses at the Federal University of Sergipe-UFS, Campus Professor Alberto Carvalho, which is a descriptive work. An Attitudes Toward Science (EARC) scale was used, which assesses two subscales, Personal Initiative (PI) and Beliefs and Affections (CA). The database used in this study was created by Lima (2017), as part of his master's thesis. The target audience were undergraduates in Biological Sciences, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, Pedagogy and Chemistry. To explore the differences between the courses studied with respect to the Beliefs and Affections and Personal Initiative scores; and to verify possible changes in them, the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Mann-Whitney post-hoc test with Bonferroni adjustment were performed. Finally, a correlation test was performed to investigate whether there was a relationship between the Beliefs and Affections and Personal Initiative scores. From the data analysis, it was possible to verify high scores among the respondents, but it was also observed that over the years the scores among students from different undergraduate courses do not change, indicating a low score for freshmen, but also for veterans. It was also possible to observe that there are still academics inserted in higher education institutions who do not believe/or believe little in science. |
