Resumo: The present study aimed to understand the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of teachers in the public basic education network in the State of Sergipe. Five studies were carried out: three narratives, one integrative, and one empirical. The first addressed reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic and the teacher's health; the second and third presented the theoretical framework of social support and life purpose on coping with psychological illness in teachers and COVID-19. In the fourth chapter, a scoping review was developed that addressed the mental health of teachers in a pandemic period, with searches in the scientific databases of Medline/PubMed, ERIC, EBSCO, Scopus, SciELO, and LILACS, based on the guidelines PRISMA. The fifth investigated the teachers' perception of the implications of the pandemic on mental health linked to work, life purpose, and social support. This work made it possible to verify the existence of evidence on the factors associated with the impact of the pandemic on the mental health of teachers. On the one hand, there was a rise in psychological illness among teachers in the pandemic. On the other hand, the importance of psychosocial resources (social support and life purpose) was perceived as coping strategies for illness.
