This dissertation will investigate the concept of Cinema of Poetry and the characteristics of this type of cinema, looking to prove its occurrence through the exploration of aesthetic and technical traits used by the director Terrence Malick in the films The New World (2005) and Days of Heaven (1978). This study aims to analyze the elements of cinematographic language to produce poetic discourse in cinema through a change in its conventional codes. In order to understand this phenomenon, the research will go into the general idea, and also, literary of the term poetry. Then, it will go through a comparison with the concept of literary prose and, consequently, with prosaic cinema. After this theoretical basis, the study of the concept of Cinema of Poetry will be developed, having as its initial basis in the text The cinema of poetry by the author Pier Paolo Pasolini. During the path that this research will take, it is expected that the debates and studies on the phenomenon of poetry and its occurrence in cinema and other arts will be expanded. |
