Resumo: |
The present study aims to understand how women teachers from the four courses in Agrarian Sciences: Agribusiness, Zootechnics, Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, that currently constitute the Campus do Sertão (Campusser) of the Universidade Federal de Sergipe, are inserted and experience their formation process, work and permanence at the University. Therefore, I focus on the performance of women teachers and scientists, on the strategies adopted by them to enter and remain at the University, as well as on their sociability both inside and outside of Campusser, with an emphasis on gender dimensions. Methodologically, I carried out documentary research, participant observation, field diary records and individual interviews with Campusser interlocutors. The results express the importance of the contributions of women from this Campus to Agrarian Sciences, an area that emerged in Brazil without the presence of women, revealing that their trajectories in the academic world, although marked by explicit and symbolic violence and barriers to rise in their careers, lead the interlocutors to position themselves, in unique ways, as a way to break gender asymmetries in the university environment. |
