In this way, the concept of gender adopted to the social and relational construction of sexed bodies and therefore bodies that are socially and historically dated, inscribed in a particular culture. Using social representations theory proved to be useful to achieve the purpose, in that it investigates how the reference systems used to classify individuals and groups are formed and function to interpret events from everyday reality. The ethnographic case study favored the use of qualitative and quantitative research techniques. The study subjects were 33 students, divided between male and female students and 10 teachers, 04 coordinators and the director from a public high school in the city of Aracaju-SE. As a source of information, we used documents and statistics on violence, as well as bibliography relating to the phenomenon. Direct observation as a research tool, was used to conducted in day and night shifts, in the classroom, in the courtyard and at various moments in the school. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with students and teachers, as a strategy to deepen knowledge about the phenomenon of school violence, having gender as a category of analysis. The results report that violences in school are tied to so-called traditional representations of masculinity, marked by machismo, competition for positions of power and confirmation of masculine identities. Moreover, the rise of violence among girls emerge significantly, as well as the expression of symbolic violence and various prejudices, particularly against different identities distinct from the heterosexual model. |
