Resumo: |
This study aimed to understand the social representations (RS) developed by adolescents on violence against women in intimate relationships of affection, and also allowed access to representations of violence in their own romantic relationships. The survey was conducted with 22 adolescents (11 girls and 11 boys) high school students from public school in the city of Itabaiana, inside Sergipe. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview and analyzed through content analysis. Among the main results, it was revealed that the adolescents have RS large and complex on violence against women in romantic relationships, both anchored at a critical and questioning positioning of violence, but also anchored in gender ideologies and patriarchy. Adolescents pointed violence against women as a daily phenomenon, which happens even in their own families, where they witness abuse of their parents / stepparents against their mothers. The study also pointed out that the adolescents suffer violence in relationships such as dating and "stay", with a greater declaration of girls as victims. In general, these adolescents have a position contrary to the violence that happens in their families and in society, but cannot elaborate RS strong enough to mobilize them to face this situation in their own romantic relationships. Therefore, the results presented in this study indicate the importance of developing preventive work with adolescents in order to educate them about the dangers of violence in relationships such as dating / “stay”, which can be a predictor of violence in adult life. It also becomes important to develop a work that questions the beliefs and gender ideologies that still are present in their RS, seeking to establish relationships based on equity. |
