Resumo: Introduction: Little is investigated about latent myofascia trigger points, mainly in the hamstring muscles in non-athletic populations. Objectives: To evaluate the immediate effects of dry needling the hamstring muscles on muscle strength, flexibility and pressure pain threshold in young adults without diagnosed diseases. Methods: This is an experimental comparative study carried out at UFS – Lagarto with young adults who have never received treatment using needling. The research consisted of two groups, using the real and placebo needling device on the latent trigger points in the hamstring muscles. Pressure pain threshold, flexibility and muscle strength were evaluated before and after the intervention. In the statistical analysis, the SPSS version 20.0 program was used. Measures of central tendency, mean ± standard deviation, were used, and the result was considered statistically significant when p<0.05. For verification of normality, the Shapiro-Wilk test was used. The Friedman test was used for the intra and intergroup variables analyzed. Results: For the pressure pain threshold and muscle strength variables, no statistically significant differences were observed (p>0.05), while for flexibility an increase was observed for the needling group after the intervention compared to placebo (p=0.023). Conclusion: Dry needling did not show superiority over the placebo technique in terms of pressure pain threshold and muscle strength. While in flexibility there was an increase after the intervention.
