Resumo: Many plants are used in the treatment of hypertension and many of its compounds is terpenoids, particularly monoterpenes. Among the monoterpenes present in these plants used in this treatment, we observed geraniol. The aim of the study was to obtain the complex βCD + geraniol and check the vasorelaxant and hypotensive effect in rats. In one article, was performed a systematic review around the cardiovascular effects of monoterpenes and it was found that they are promising agents in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In Article 2, the study was conducted in vitro with mesenteric artery rings of rats, where geraniol promoted endothelium-independent relaxation by inhibiting calcium influx. In the article 3 was obtained as a solid βCD complexed with geraniol. In article 4, a study was conducted in vivo, performed with hypertensive rats induced by L-NAME (7-days gavage) and the hypotensive effect was observed geraniol + βCD at a dose of 50 mg/kg for 2 h after administration. And last, was filed a patent for the inclusion of geraniol and βCD, as well as his method of obtaining and its antihypertensive activity.
