Resumo: This work presents the results of a research on didactic books of history of Sergipe produced between the years of 1973 and 2007. We look for to evidence the importance of the material characteristics of printed - of specific form in didactic books of history of Sergipe, to account two particularities of the didactic book: first it is to be a planned printed - of this form, it passes for the same stages of construction of any other printed (observed logically its specificities), which say respect to the choice of the size, format, number of pages, typography, use of images, colors etc.; second it is to serve of instrument in the acquisition of knowledge and abilities in the process of historical learning. From the done observations it was possible to inquire: how they were produced, of the point of view graph-editorial the didactic books of history of Sergipe? Which the relations between this material conformation of manuals schools and the process of teach-learning of the history of Sergipe? To answer to these questionings were analyzed eight books of history of Sergipe produced between the years of 1973 and 2007, used in classroom in the initial years of education. The analysis occurred at two moments: in first the general characteristics - such as layer, number of pages, format, size etc. -, and the specific characteristics of each printed were verified - such as use of images, typographical variation, use of colors etc. -; in the one second, we verify the relations between the graphical resources used and the learning of the contents of history of Sergipe.
