Resumo: |
The present work analyzes the speeches from professors, under quota students and not under quota students in the graduation of medicine in Sergipe Federal University, São Cristóvão campus, about affirmative action policies. Thereby, the goal of this work is to comprehend if the speeches about racial quotes in higher education are a significant factor in the emergence of conflicts between the actors of the academic community, be either: under quota students, not under quota students and professors . The research is characterized as qualitative and has as instrument for data collecting the semistructured interview. It was interviewed 23 social actors with the caracteristics once cited. Results point out to the creation of access to higher education strategies by the undergraduate students which lead to the option for the quota system policy as one of the strategies at hand, besides the use of preparatory classes for the entrance exam. Also, it was notorious that the speeches about quotas system policy were diverse, presenting arguments the suggests an acceptation integral and partial with restrictions, denoting that this subject is managed carefully because of the politically correct issues it involves. Issues about conflict were not identified among the students who demonstrated friendly relationships created in the aquaintaceship established in the everyday of the course. However, there were conflicts in the relations between students and professors, with major critiques related to the weirdness from professors about the insertion of under quota students. Such strangements encompass questions about the finacial conditions of these students to obtain materials related to the course and for the acquisition of goods - car, for example - the efficacy of the quotas system in higher education, considering the difficulties in basic education and how the diversity in the department alters the undergraduating profile. In addition, it was evident, by a portion of the students and also professors, reservations about the racial quotas system in detriment of a social quotas system, usinf as justification the idea that the inequality is expressed from a financial marker, rejecting the racial question as a marker in the access to higher education from affirmative action policies. |
