The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship of performance in Science with the profile of behavior manifested by some students of Basic Education. Was developed and implemented a performance test consisting of questions of Sciences as well as a questionnaire with pre-categorized regarding student behavior statements, in which they marked the frequency with which each event happens in your life thus leading us to a idea of the type of dominant behavior. The data collection instruments of Sciences test were applied to students from four regions of the country, Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Sergipe, while the questionnaire investigated the behavior was applied in the last two regions. The sample consisted of 314 students from different regions who responded to the test evaluated the performance in science, and of these, 93 completed the questionnaire that investigated the behavior of students attending the fifth and ninth year in Rio Grande do Sul and Sergipe, it constituted the sample analyzed in this dissertation. The application was done in schools that had computers since 187 students completed the questionnaire through a software, and 127 on paper. Data were tabulated and processed using SPSS software, to extract a report of simple frequencies and bivariate tests. In general more than 54% of the students were the questions posed, which was considered a positive result for the groups evaluated. In analyzes of issues related categories were explored with some of the skills suggested by the National Curriculum Parameters, which students should submit in the year ongoing study. There is no correlation between behavior and performance in science was found, from the categories of behavior previously planned in the organization of instrument collections. However, a new test was taken with some types of behavior built after application, from latent variables generated from the sum of the Likert items, after testing Cronbach´s alpha, which measures internal correlation of the variables. Data were subjected to a test cluster that grouped variables suggesting typologies as antisocial, withdrawn and hyperactive. With these new categories we found a relationship, from comparison of means (Mann-Whitney) with issues of Sciences whose skills were to understand, recognize and identify. Investigate the performance of students as well as factors that may be related to it, allows an evaluation and diagnosis of learning and teaching and how it suffers intervention of other factors process. This type of research can contribute to direct actions to be taken in relation to the educational problems of the country. |
