Resumo: When dialoguing on the territory category, we carry out a conceptual approach in the different studies of Geography, considering it as part or result of social relations from the lived experience. Through the conceptual dimensions of the territory, we can highlight the social and symbolic relationships that influence the economic dynamics, thus contributing to local development, which in turn is encouraged by community mobilization and organization, which are important for the creation of social strategies boosting the production chain to better contribute to human, social and economic development. In this context, it is necessary to highlight the environmental impacts that affect the mangrove ecosystem and cause irreparable damage, in addition to the importance of sustainability, which is important for the use of natural resources to be ensured, thus benefiting the current generation and future generations with the guarantee the availability of these resources. In this scenario that shellfish gatherers find themselves in, they are invisible at the same time as they are protagonists in terms of fishing activity, which, in view of the circumstances of this duality, becomes a precarious, marginalized and deregulated work environment that encompasses a significant portion of the practice developed by women, being still exploited by the Social Division of Labor, a fact that affirms how women's work is incorporated unequally by the capitalist system through gender inequality. The research was carried out based on the empirical analytical method, considering the experiences of the shellfish gatherers in the Ilha Grande village, which is located in the city of São Cristóvão, based on the following methodological procedures: application of questionnaires, conducting semi-structured interviews with social actors, tabulation, systematization and data analysis.
