Resumo: The biodigester is seen as a very relevant alternative for the discussion on environmental issues, as it uses waste that would be discarded as disposal for the generation of biogas and digestate or biofertilizer. The development of research in this field, from the manufacture of the equipment (biodigester), installation, maintenance to the final destination of the generated products, is to raise awareness of the rational use of available resources, to promote interest in environmental conservation. The use of the digester as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary project in areas located in urban and rural areas can contribute to the formation of a critical view on the subject, in the same way, to demonstrate the existence of alternative and efficient ways for the solution of innumerable problems related to the environment and health. The research in question demonstrated the pros and cons in the construction and operation of a non-industrial biodigester, both an urban and a rural model, focusing on the equipment configuration process, for better satisfaction in the treatment of organic waste, aiming at the use of biogas, and may be reproduced by any individual of interest. As a conclusion of the study carried out, of the arrangements made for the accomplishment of the objectives, of construction, implantation, and evaluation, the technical feasibility was proven with the adaptations of some formative elements. However, energy viability and biofertilizer production could not be fully measured. Even so, with all the inconvenience, it is possible to prove the implementation of the digestion technique to understand sustainable development, which covers the environmental, economic, and social areas.
