Resumo: This research presents a behavioral analysis of Phyllostachys pubescens bamboo under uniaxial compression loads and three-point flexion, as well as its reaction to fire and its behavior under high temperatures. Compressive strength tests were performed on samples with an aspect ratio (H/D) of 1, 2 and 3, on knotless and 1 and 2 knot samples and on saturated samples at equilibrium humidity. Three point bending tests were performed on both saturated and natural moisture samples. The effect of temperature was studied by performing physical and direct tensile tests on bamboo slats before and after exposure to temperatures of 100, 150, 200 and 250 ºC. The influence of the heating rate (0.5 and 20 °C/min) and exposure time (15, 30, 60, 120 and 240 minutes) on the residual physical and mechanical properties of bamboo was evaluated. The reaction to fire was evaluated by conducting calorimeter cone tests with a radiant flux of 50 kW/m². The results indicated that at up to 100C there are tensile strength gains, the most suitable geometry for the uniaxial compression test is 2DHSN and that the reaction to fire of bamboo is comparable to that of wood.
