Resumo: This research aims to show how it is still common, in a society considered as "advanced", we see divisions in the labor sphere related to gender issues, to which it attributes tasks, salaries and responsibilities to men and women, for biological and gender reasons. It is notorious to perceive the strengthening of patriarchy, power relations, hierarchy and, especially, inequalities. In order to present whether the distinction of gender influences in labor division, we will present this theme focusing on the profession of the executive secretary within the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). We will analyze how labor relations and the sexual division of labor occur in the secretary work: why are there more women working in this profession than men? What is the perception of government employees, with a secretarial position at UFRJ, in relation to the importance of their work for the development of the Institution? How the secretarial professional at UFRJ identifies, in a global way, with regard to qualification, attributions, difficulties, working conditions, among other aspects. It is intended to reflect that the sexual division of labor is a process of naturalization that helps in the growth of capitalism and that brings more harm to women than to men. It is essential that women occupy more and more important professional roles in society, that their work is not considered invisible, that there is a process of denaturalization of the macho and patriarchal society that we live in. The executive secretariat is an example of a profession in which we perceive how relationships occur around gender and how it is a naturalized female profession.
