Resumo: Airport pavement uneveness is analyzed in comparison with pilots’ opinion concerning rolling smoothness and comfort conditions offered by runways to aerial operations. As a revision, a short comment about the vibratory theory and the aircraft-pavement interaction is done, emphasizing the main aspects to be observed regarding the runway uneveness. The present stage of development, in methods and equipments to measure the roughness and to evaluate the ride quality of pavements, also supported the toils of this research. Both, the selected device for roughness measurement - the IPR/ USP INTEGRATOR - and its calibration method are described in details. A methodology of objective measurement of pavement roughness, suitable to runways, is suggested. Regression equations correlating the resulta of the objective and subjective evaluations, distinct and comparatively analysed, were obtained. These equations made it possible to establish patterns of uneveness for airport pavement surfaces, in terms of irregularity quotient (QI), which allow a immediate judgement about the' rolling smoothness and comfort conditions. In arder to contribute to airport pavements management activities, at net level, roughness prediction models were studied.
