Resumo: |
This study is about the future of family production units in situation of lack of successors in Paraíso City, SC. Paraíso City, inserted in a region strongly influenced by the presence of family farming, reflects the reality of other cities in the West of Santa Catarina, where it is noticed that family farming begins to face problems of succession that did not exist some time ago. The rural exodus reaches more the young people, who are exactly the forces of renewal of this form of agriculture. The consequence of this process is the threat to the future of these units by the lack of successors. Actually, what is at stake in the issues involved in the succession process, more than the future of the families, is the future of the rural region in the West of Santa Catarina. To develop this study, were applied questionnaires, in family units (15) with no successors and the data collected were grouped on seven bases that guided the discussion proposed: characteristics of the families, characteristics of the properties, the presence of stimulus to the permanence of children, the relationship between the family unit with the children who migrated and the impact of this migration on the properties, the division of patrimony and the future of the productive unit. The data indicate that there is a big uncertainty about the future of these productive units, and that more public policies are needed, comprehensive and specific ones, of support and encouragement for the youth to stay in rural areas. |
