Resumo: | Over the years environmental and social aspects started to have more attention for the companies and academic’s work due to the need to change the way of measuring productivity in production units. After Rio-92 climate convention, the APO created the Green Productivity (GP), which is a productivity evaluation model integrating social, environmental and economic aspects. The application model in Brazilian industries for calculating the Green Productivity Index (GPI) was developed by Fernandes (2016) and is composed of a framework that supports the measurement metrics of GP in an organizational context and that supports the determination of the BTI. This model was adapted to the reality of the chemical industry of EPS, thus being the pioneer in this industry. The aim of this study was to measure the Green Productivity Index (GPI) in an expanded polystyrene (EPS) chemical industry, based on an adaptation of the Fernandes model (2016). The GPI is calculated through the mathematical relationship defined by the ratio between productivity (ratio between revenues and costs) and impacts (social and environmental). To calculate the impacts, 67 indicators were selected, 35 of social dimension and 32 of environmental dimension. As for the methodological procedures, it is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Data collection procedures were done through primary and secondary sources, whose collection instruments were non-participant observation, interview, questionnaire and bibliographic research. The model was applied in an EPS Chemical Industry located in a city in the brazilian’s northeastern, with all index and impacts originating in this industry and impacting the lives of employees and the community surrounding this industry. It is concluded that the proposed model contributed clearly to the advancement of the literature, it is an important tool to compare the financial parameters and environmental and social nature both internally of the company and other companies within the same sector. |
