Resumo: The historiography which approaches the Brazilian architecture after the 1980's reveals the existence of a diversity and plurality on the projects executed in the country. According to this historiography, after the exhaustion of the visible concrete aesthetic, which prevailed throughout the 1960's and the 1970's, the 1980's onwards were characterized by a dissemination of different approaches among architects in Brazil. One highlighted aspect from such diversity is the matter of building materials. The present research is, therefore, focused on this topic, aiming to identify how the diversity and plurality regarding the materials featured in the external surfaces of buildings were obtained, using the architecture magazine Projeto as a resource, that worked to the research as database of information on the subject. This magazine, responsible for publishing projects and buildings in various parts of the country since the 1970s, has promoted the criticism on national architecture and it has documented through its issues the transformation that is of interest for this investigation.
