Resumo: | The formation process of brazilian rural space based on an exclusionary and concentration model became throughout history responsible for the exclusion of peasants in access to land. The municipality of São Miguel de Taipu, state of Paraíba, had its territorial organization ruled by that logic, by having in its territory the installation of four sugarcane mills. However, it was through the struggle for the right to access land that peasants of São Miguel do Taipu won fractions of that territory dominated by sugarcane capital, building a peasant territoriality, based on reproduction of life. As a result of the peasant struggle, six rural settlements were created in the municipality, which led to a significant change from a social, economic and territorial point of view in the municipal rural space. In this context, the objective of our research was to analyze the territorial and socioeconomic changes resulting from the creation of rural settlements in a municipality whose peasantry has been historically subordinated to the logic of capital. On the methodological approach, oral history has given us support to analyze this process with their own municipal peasants as our main source of information, therefore, during the research we made sure to highlight their voices. |
