Resumo: The present study aimed at discussing the evaluation processes of higher education in the distance modality in the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba (IFPB). The research was developed through two phases: it was carried out a survey on the managers who make up the Directorate of Distance Education (EAD) of the IFPB. The second phase was performed through the use of questionnaires with the students of the higher courses in Administration (baccalaureate) and Literature (licenciate). The chosen instrument for data collection was the questionnaire, applied to the 04 managers and 107 students during the period in which the research was accomplished. In this research, the gaps in IFPB Distance Education were diagnosed, presenting a parameter through the positioning of managers and students regarding teaching-learning, structural and administrative management. In general, we approached a scale containing levels of satisfaction on the following items: teaching plan, interpersonal relationship, teacher training, center coordinator, course coordinator, facilities, laboratory for practical classes, opinions and suggestions, books and periodicals, teaching materials, homepages, technological resources, Moodle platform, educational materials, curricular content, library. The obtained results demonstrate that it is essential that the IFPB reconsider the aspects that ensure the continuity of the actions, redesigning procedures and academic-administrative and management processes, so that they conform to the capacity standards that condition the consolidation of Distance Education.
