Resumo: Throughout history, there is a movement through which the awareness of social inclusion and citizenship is able to occupy the most varied thematic maps resulting from the constant desires of the groups that compose the society. In this sense the present dissertation has as the central objective to understand, from a historical and normative analysis, the right to access to work performed in a dignified way as a guaranteeing instrument for the achievement of social inclusion and the exercise of full citizenship. Therefore, the problem of this study was aimed at social inclusion by people with disabilities from access to work, verifying through the hypothesis the space occupied by people with disabilities in the formal labor market scenario and the main challenges to be faced with a view to a more effective socio-labor insertion. For this reason, an initial presentation of the treatment historically given to the social group of people with disabilities was necessary, the analysis of the normative dynamics through the exposure of a legal evolution perceived in benefit of the PwD group with a view to gaining access to the labor market, in addition to the approach and defense of work carried out in a way that aims to protect workers with disabilities and the promotion of an individual and collective development model based on inclusion and, finally, a debate on the main obstacles faced by people with disabilities in the objective of continuously combating the scenario of social exclusion. Methodologically, the work adopted a qualitative approach, since in addition to quantitative data, the conceptual elements were considered through an interpretive research and the method used was deductive, starting from the general theme to the debate of specific issues, with the support the interpretive method through the analysis of the specific doctrine and the devices that support this dissertation, in addition to the use of bibliographical and documentary research. In conclusion, it was noticed that access to work, carried out in a way that promotes respect, well-being, equality and dignity, constitutes one of the main tools found by the PwD population in the relentless search for a fair and efficient social inclusion, enabling the full exercise of citizenship, of a more open and plural society and, in the end, of a world with better perspectives for all individuals, requiring the continuous confrontation of the numerous structural and cultural barriers that affect people with disabilities in their search for inclusion in the labor market.
