Resumo: This work investigated and analyzed the performance historically and the legacy of the paraibana teacher Francisca Teresa Montenegro de Aquino in the institutionalization of the educational debate of the Gerontology in the scope of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), as well as in other scenes of development of the education of aged in our State, enters the years of 1991 and 2005. Using as passage theoretician-methodology the job of Oral History and the Memory in order to collect sources oral that they told on the paper of the related teacher in the problematic one presented by the research, had been presented the memories and histories of the teacher Teresa Aquino around its familiar origin, of its educational formation, its professional life in the UFPB and of its enrollment in the fight for the aged ones in the Paraíba. After that, the contents of the oral sources and writings around the primordial of the educational debate of the Gerontology in the Paraíba by means of the quarrel in such a way of the project of creation of the University of the Third Age how much of the project of foundation of the Nucleus of Studies for the Third Age of the UFPB between the years of 1991 and 1992 had been argued, both of authorship of Teresa Aquino. Finally, the evolution of this was analyzed has exactly debated in accordance with the institutionalization of the Nucleus Integrated of Studies and Research of the Third Age of the Federal University of the Paraíba in 1994 and with its academic production in the dimensions of education, the research and the extension for the development and improvement of the gerontological educational debate in the Paraíba until the year of 2005, that is, until the year of death of the teacher Teresa Aquino.
