Resumo: Today, studies on climate change are gaining notoriety in discussions, whether at the global, national or local levels. The desertification process, for example, affects about 3.6 billion hectares of land on all continents of the world; the semiarid region in northeastern Brazil continues to be one of them. Understanding the desertification processes as well as the limitations of natural resources in such a region remains one of the greatest challenges faced, especially for small family farmers. The existing limitations for the rural producer not only affect their production and marketing of products, but mainly raises a greater problem: the giving up of their land and the rural exodus, directly causing family well-being and overcrowding in the urban environment . Effective methods to support this problem are the stimulus to the processes of strategy and coexistence with the Semiarid region. By linking projects such as PNAE, PRONAF and PAA, family farmers gain access and capacity to remain in their community, and in this way continue the memories and roots left there by their past generations. The objective of this chapter was to carry out a discussion, based on a literature review, about the current conditions of family farming, its resilience, and to discuss the strategies used to coexist with the Brazilian Semiarid region under the scenario of climate change and worsening of environmental degradation
